Sandblasting
Sandblasting: Is a necessary form of preparation when the job requires the ultimate in quality. This procedure cleans the steel of “all ” foreign matter as well as producing a profile on the exposed steel. This profile is what allows the coating to adhere properly and prevents early failure of the new paint. The one problem with onsite sandblasting is, the steel starts to ” Flash rust ” very quickly. Consequently it must be coated within a short period of time. We typically coat anything we blast the same day, when possible. This is also at our customers request. Many of today’s Epoxy’s and Polyurethanes can handle minor flash rust with no trouble.
